It’s late at night, and you’re starving. Your body is aching for something sweet and salty, or maybe warm and cheesy. Then, you remember that formal is just around the corner and that you’d hate to be less than pleased with how your body looks. Here are some creative suggestions that should help satisfy your appetite without putting on any pounds.

1.   Apples dipped in Peanut Butter

Instead of reaching for a bag of chips, grab an apple. Not only are apples sweet and nutritious, but also, the peel has been rumored to keep weight off. Dip your apple in peanut butter for that extra bit of oomph and even for some protein.

2. Carrots wrapped in Turkey (and dipped in low fat cream cheese if you would like!)

Personally, I think this is a lovely concoction of simple foods that are found in most kitchens. One day, I was rummaging through my kitchen without a clue of what to eat. Then I stumbled across this idea. Carrots are great for our body along with Turkey, which packs in the protein.

3.   Whole Wheat Goldfish dipped in Apple Sauce

I know this one may sound a bit strange, but I swear it’s good! Although whole wheat Goldfish still isn’t the healthiest snack, they’re a better choice than normal Goldfish and certainly are a better choice than chips.

4.   Strawberries dipped in Cool Whip

I’d say this one is pretty obvious. Not only is it sweet, but it’s healthy too. Strawberries are high in Vitamin C, and eight strawberries produce more Vitamin C than in a single orange.

5.   Cottage Cheese and Sugar-Free Jello

I’m not saying you have to mix the two foods in a bowl, but eating them at the same time will compliment the other. Some people say to refrain from cheese before bed because it is fattening, but cottage cheese actually has a protein in it that ultimately helps your muscles grow at night. As for Jello, who doesn’t enjoy Jello? Some say that Jello even stimulates hair growth.

6.   Celery with fat free cream cheese

Celery satisfies our need to enjoy something crunchy, and the fat-free cream cheese gives us that little bit of protein that eases our late night hunger pains. As a bonus, celery actually has negative calories because of the energy it takes to burn it off during digestion.

So, don’t worry if you find yourself feeling hungry after a late night of studying or a fun night out with your friends.  There are plenty of healthy snack choices often right in your refrigerator that you can have and enjoy without feeling guilty.
