Finding and sticking to a skincare routine can be difficult, especially when in college when you don’t have easy access to as many resources. 1. Drink Lots of Water Throughout The Day

While drinking water isn’t necessarily something that you can physically put on your skin and incorporate into a routine, it’s one of the most crucial parts to improving your skin. Water not only keeps the body hydrated, but it also keeps our skin hydrated and healthy. If you aren’t drinking enough water, then your skin can face the consequences and become dry, flakey or inflamed. By drinking at least eight glasses of water a day, your entire body will be thanking you.

2. Wash Your Face Before Bed

I get it, sometimes I don’t want to have to get out of bed and go to the bathroom to wash my face. But by putting this off, you’re allowing all the dirt and dust you picked up throughout the day to stay on your face during the night. This is an essential step, especially if you wear makeup, as your pores will become clogged up. By developing a routine every day that involves washing your face with products made for your skin type, you’ll be able to avoid zits and pimples that could easily occur.

3. Moisturize Daily

As we begin to approach the cooler months, this is a crucial step you cannot forget! Keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated can help keep your skin balanced. However, the type of moisturizer you are using should be dependent on the type of skin you have. Whether you have dry, oily, or a combination of the two, there a plenty of products out there that will get the job done. Although it can take a while to find the perfect product for your skin, it will pay off in the long run.

4. Wear Sunscreen Everyday

Even though most people associate wearing sunscreen with the summer months, it’s an important step to incorporate into your daily skincare routine. By protecting your skin from direct sunlight, you’re putting yourself out of risk from visible signs of aging. Using a sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 30 every day is recommended by dermatologists.

5.  Try Out Face Masks

Not only is putting on a face mask a fun form of self-care, it also can be helpful for your skin in general. Although it’s important to look over the ingredients and fragrance of certain masks, they can help amplify your skin. Face masks are also fairly accessible for college students and can be found at stores like Target, Ulta and Sephora. I recommend starting out with a hydrating sheet mask to start as they are generally don’t irritate the skin.
