Halloween will definitely be looking different this year, but that’s no reason to not at least partially dress up! Here are some Zoom-friendly costume ideas for your COVID-Halloween:
1. Black Cat
Honestly, this is such an easy, classic costume that’s also perfect for Zoom! The addition of a nose and whiskers can really sell this costume and most people already have the items necessary for it (or you might have to make a quick trip to Target). A cat is also a safe bet if you’re not sure how committed everyone is going to be and if you’re nervous about being extra. You really can never go wrong with a cat; it’s simple, easy and cute. Even though it’s a little basic, there’s a reason it’s classic!
2. Clown
A clown is another easy costume for Zoom. All it takes is a little face paint and a bright colored shirt. This is also slightly less basic and shows more dedication for a Zoom session, but without breaking the bank. Even just a red nose will do the trick! It’s all about having fun and just being silly, so this is the perfect costume to portray that.
3. A Devil/Angel
This is a pretty basic one too, but it can still get the point across. This costume just requires a corresponding colored shirt and a halo/horns and is a good costume for two friends as well. Even though so many people have already dressed up as this, you can make it unique and creative with cute makeup and accessories. Red or white eyeliner can totally bring this look to the next level.
4. Gore Anything
If you have any skill with makeup (or even if not, there are tons of tutorials), creating a fake bruise or cut is a fun way to celebrate the season over Zoom. It’s still fun and festive, but doesn’t require any special clothing. With that being said, any sort of fake bruise or cut will be easily noticeable from the neck up. It’s so easy these days to find SFX makeup and tutorials, so this is the perfect last minute costume for a Zoom call.
Halloween is all about having fun and is an excuse to get together with your friends. Although it’s going to look a little different this year, that does not mean we cannot make the most of it. This year has been a whirlwind of emotions, but watching the community do everything they can to create events and enjoy socials is truly exciting and shows promise for humanity. I hope this helps you come up with something fun for your Halloween Zoom calls. Have fun and stay safe!
