5 Healthy After School Snacks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

College is long and hard. Finding that yummy but healthy snack to either binge eat or just snack on after class is highly important. For those late night hunger sessions, or even a light lunch, here are 5 healthy snacks:

1) Ants on a log.

Celery, peanut (or almond) butter and raisins. This is literally the most fun, most adorable little treat. It’s not super sweet or overly salty. It is a perfect combination of sweet and savory. If you prefer something a little sweeter you can replace the raisins with chocolate chips.

2) Anything with hummus.

Seriously, anything. Cucumber, celery, carrots, pita chips, crackers, or even tortilla chips. Anything dipped in hummus is a great idea. And even better, it’s super healthy so you don’t even have to feel guilty if you do indeed eat the entire carton in one sitting.

3) Apple with almond butter.

Fun fact: peanuts are a fungus. So overeating them is never good. Rest assured, the healthy substitute of almond butter is just as yummy. Especially with a crisp green apple :)

4) Root vegetable chips.

Highly recommend taro chips. They are extremely addictive. Root veggie chips are a healthy alternative to potato chips and are just as good.

5) Paleo granola with anything.

Okay, so you can literally eat paleo granola with anything. Greek yogurt, dairy-free yogurt, any type of milk or even just plain. It is so good and so healthy. Low sugar too! Its a win win.
