5 Fall Shoes to Spice up Your Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

As the weather gets a little cooler, fall is the perfect time to add some new shoe styles to your already growing collection. From boots to moccasins, this season’s shoe trends do not disappoint! Try wearing a pattern, color or style of shoe you wouldn’t normally wear and embrace the shoes that reflect your personality. Happy shopping!!

The Classic Bootie

Sole Society Belen slouchy bootie in night taupe, $109.95

The classic bootie is the number one fall shoe must-have! The perfect transition shoe from day to night, the bootie can be worn for a more casual look during the day or for a more daring look at night. Try wearing velvet or patterned booties for a bold look, but always be sure to pair striking booties with neutral clothing items. This fall, the slouchy bootie is of particular popularity.

The Mule

Steve Madden Jill Loafer, $89.95

The mule is one trend that has made a fierce comeback this season. With a range of colors, patterns and styles, everyone can find a mule that fits their personality. Mules happen to be very similar to loafers, which are another popular fall shoe. A weekend shoe and a workday shoe, the mule is very versatile and comfortable for those long days walking around campus or at the office!

Riding Boots

Tory Burch Ashlynn Riding Boots, $385

The riding boot is a staple fall shoe, although no one is going to be doing much riding in their boots! Perfect for sweater weather, the riding boot looks great with leggings or jeans and a sweater. There are several color options for riding boots other than black and brown, including a vibrant plum or cherry color.

The Peep Toe Bootie

Kristin Cavallari Leeds Peep Toe Bootie in Berry Suede, $154.95

The peep toe bootie is a great choice if you want to dress things up. The cherry color of these peep toe booties is such a pretty color for fall and one that you can incorporate throughout your entire look. Peep toe booties usually have a slightly higher heel compared to some other styles but are still comfortable. If you don’t like the cherry color, peep toe booties are also offered in taupe and black.

Moccasins

UGG Dakota Pom Pom Moccasins in dusk, $120

Who says shoes can’t also be slippers? Moccasins are among my favorite types of fall shoes because of how warm and comfy they are!! Not only can you wear them around the house, but moccasins will also keep your feet warm when you just need to have a lazy day. Pair them with scarves and baggy sweaters and you’ll wish you had bought a pair sooner.
