Warm weather and sunny days aren’t the only things to look forward to when spring comes along, it also means some of your favorite TV shows are coming back! Here are four shows coming out this spring that feature some kickass female leads.

1. The Handmaid’s Tale

The Handmaid’s Tale is a Hulu original starring Elisabeth Moss, based on the novel by Margaret Atwood. After releasing the first season, the show received a lot of praise including Emmy wins for Outstanding Drama series and Outstanding Lead Actress, and Golden Globe wins for Best Television Series and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series. Season 2 will be available to stream on Hulu on April 25th.

2. New Girl

New Girl, starring Zooey Deschanel, has been making us laugh and fall in love with their quirky characters for 6 seasons. Sadly, the show is coming to an end with it’s 7th and final season airing on April 10th on FOX. The 7th season will consist of 8 episodes, making a 3 year jump from where we left off in season 6. There will be a one hour series finale airing on May 15th to say good bye to Jess, Nick, Winston, Cece, Schmidt, and if we’re lucky, maybe even Coach will make an appearance.

3. Rise

Rise is a new series on NBC that aired on the 13th. If you missed it, you can catch up on the NBC website. Rise was created by Jason Katims, who you may know from some of his other shows including Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. The show is about a high school theater department run by a passionate young teacher who wants to get some unlikely students involved. It is starring Josh Radner as the theater teacher, and Auli’i Cravalho aka Moana!!

4. Station 19

Station 19 will be joining the TGIT lineup when it airs on ABC on March 22nd. This is a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff about the Seattle fire department, where we will see Ben Warren transition from surgeon to firefighter. It is starring Jaina Lee Oritz as the chief of the fire station, who just recently made her debut as her character Andy Herrera on the Grey’s episode ‘You Really Got a Hold on Me.’ There is also said to be some crossovers between the two shows, with Ellen Pompeo appearing in some episodes. With Shonda Rhimes as an executive producer, I know we can expect some serious girl power and lots of drama!
