4 Pairs of Shoes You Need for Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

Spring has officially arrived in Champaign! That means that all of those winter coats and sweaters are out the door and your clunky boots will need to be put away in favor of some warmer weather shoe styles. If you’re looking for some spring shoe inspiration whether it’s for your walk to class, your internship or a night out at Joe’s, look no further! Here are the four must-have shoe styles for this spring!

1. Knee High Gladiator Sandals

You probably already have a go-to pair of gladiator sandals in your closet right now, but you might want to replace that trusty pair once you see the gladiators that are on trend this spring. Instead of your average pair of brown or black gladiator sandals that stop at your ankles, this year’s gladiators are a lot more interesting and intricate. Styles now go up to the knee and designers are using new materials like suede and including intricate lacing. Heeled gladiators are also a must-try for the daring fashionista! These updates make gladiators way sexier so you can wear them to class and then straight to the bars!

2. Mules

This is probably going to be spring’s biggest shoe trend. Mules are essentially your standard pair of high heels, except for the fact that the heel part is cut off, making them an easy slip-on shoe. Just like normal heels, you can find them in any height you want, so if you’re someone who hates heels, you can still rock this trend! Try a pair with a short heel or in a platform. No matter the height, you can find a casual or dressy pair of mules. There’s no denying that this shoe is super versatile and you will be wearing them all spring long!

3. Platforms

Whether you’re looking for a heel or flat to add to your spring shoe collection this year, platforms need to be on your radar! They were huge on the spring 2015 runway so you’ll be able to find them at any store. This style is chunky, so platforms definitely make a statement. Break them out when you’re going out with your friends.

4. Pointed Toe Flats

Slightly pointed toe flats are now the latest trend. The best thing about these is that they give you a slightly more polished look and make the average flat a little more interesting. Invest in a neutral pair of pointed toe flats this spring so you can wear them for any occasion. Dress them up for your internship or wear them with your favorite T-shirt and jeans for a casual weekday look. Either way, you won’t be disappointed with these shoes!

So whether you need a shoe for walking across campus all day or one for your internship or a night out with the girls, these four styles have got your covered. Say so long to your winter boots and invest in these four shoe styles for spring!
