In our world today, we turn on the TV for some entertainment and find ourselves actually struggling to keep up with the Kardashians or watching repeats of our favorite HGTV remodels. But, do you remember a simpler time when you were pleasantly surprised when you flipped the channel to Disney and your favorite movie was on? Check out these top Disney Channel movies you forgot you loved and pick up some fresh ideas for your next movie night.
1. Lizzie McGuire: The Movie
I guess when in Rome you are able to meet your look alike pop singer, fall in love with your lip-syncing celebrity boyfriend, and perform at a huge concert when you just graduated the 8th grade?
2. Cow Belles
What’s better than watching our favorite 2000s Disney twins attempt to work at a dairy shop? Honestly, nothing can beat the anticipation on whether or not Courtney was going to have her party and watching Taylor fall in love while assisting her boyfriend helping a cow give birth!
3. Camp Rock
The ultimate love story! Going to music camp, working as a chef, getting hated on by the mean girls, and oh, falling in love with your celebrity crush. Demi Lovato was the envy of each girl as we watched our beloved Jonas brother fall in love before our eyes.
4. The Thirteenth Year
Ah, yes, a classic: turning into a merman on your thirteenth birthday. What better present could you ask for?
5. Zenon: Girl of the 21stCentury
This one throws us back all the way to ’99, and we can all agree that we loved the twist of the alien girl coming to earth.
6. Cadet Kelly
Hillary Duff proved to us for another time just how awesome she is and that she can do it all. Fashionista to military school – nothing threw her off of her game.
7. High School Musical
Okay, let’s be honest, no one forgot about High School Musical. But, it seems like it’s crucial to include it with our favorite Disney Channel movies. We are all still melting over Troy Bolton: the man with the basketball skills, the voice, and the looks to kill.
8. Lemonade Mouth
How do they come up with this stuff? A band started in detention based on the lemonade vending machine outside of their classroom. It’s quite the stretch for a story, but Disney Channel, as always, made it work, and gave us hopes that we too, one day, could form our own band in detention.
9. Princess Protection Program
The two Disney Channel “it girls” Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato teaming up made for the perfect movie. It showed the real bond between two pals and how far they would go to protect each other. This is a great choice for a girl’s night in with your bestie.
10. StarStruck
This movie gave us something different than your typical love story. Christopher Wilde, celebrity heartthrob, showed his affection for Minnesota gal Jessica Olson, but she did not return the love (at first). But, I guess there was “something about the sunshine” in California that pulled these two together in the end.
