Many people have a love-hate relationship with virtual learning. Yes, it is nice to wear pajama pants or sweats to “class”, but the interaction with other people in person is truly missed. It has been one weird semester academically thanks to the pandemic, but there are many ways to make virtual learning fun in winter! Here are some of my suggestions:

Light a winter scent candle

Nothing is cozier than when a candle is lit in winter. Some of my favorite winter scent candles from Bath and Body Works are Champagne Toast, ‘Tis the Season, Winter, Winter Candy Apple, and Marshmallow Fireside. Personally, I use aromatherapy candles whenever I am in class or doing homework because they are proven to help you relax, feel calm, and can help you feel more energized.

Walk around

If your class does not require your camera to be on, something that helps me stay focused is to walk around and stretch out my legs. This really helps me! If you are required to have your camera on, you can do a 15-minute walk around your apartment/house before your class starts.

Be positive

This is a tough time for everyone! Try to be positive. There are so many things to smile about in winter: the snow falling down, the smell of cookies baking, the Christmas tree, Christmas decorations, etc. If you ever feel stressed about virtual learning, take a small break and try to smile at the beautiful things winter brings us!

Look ahead!

After Thanksgiving break, we only have a few more weeks of school left. Try to finish the semester off strong and do not give up in any of your classes. Finals week can be tough, but always remember professors are more than willing to help. Think about how accomplished you will feel after the semester ends. You can finally say you got through a semester of virtual learning and did it. The holidays are right around the corner too; think about how nice it will be to spend time with family and friends.

These are just a few suggestions to survive virtual learning in the winter. The semester is almost over; you got this!
