Bored, bored, BORED… Since quarantine has started, we’ve needed to stay at home and enjoy our time indoors. But about a half year has passed since we’ve tried to kill our time watching videos, cleaning up our rooms, starting a new book and more. At the end of the day, you may find that you did not to enjoy the time you spent. So, here are the three “S“s to making your days productive even in boring times!

Start something new and make it a routine

It sounds like a cliche, but start something new! It can be any thing, on any scale. For example, what I decided to start doing was just to “re-watch my favourite Korean dramas”. I really am an enthusiast of Korean dramas, to the point where I’ve even written an article about my favoite K-dramas.

I recommend watching dramas rather than movies since you can watch one episode a day and make it a routine. Having a routine is one of the easiest ways to keep yourself organized, so try to have morning, afternoon, and night routines set for each day.

Here’s one example of a daily routine;

Morning: make a delicious home-made cafe latte

Afternoon: watch one episode on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu

 Night: chat with your friends on Facetime

Soak in sunshine

Lucky you, it’s autumn! One of the most comfortable seasons in the year with cool air and warm sunshine. If you don’t get your vitamins from the sunshine, you can easily get tired and feel depressed. So take time to go walk around outside your home. You might come across a cafe you want to visit again and beautiful sights which you don’t notice when you’re busy.

Sleep early, wake up early

If you don’t prioritize your sleeping time, please start prioritizing it right now. Not getting enough sleep can often become a cause of fatigue and make you feel unmotivated to do anything. Just by setting a steady sleep schedule (e.g. sleep at midnight and wake up at 9:00), your circadian rhythm will become normal and you will get enough energy to be productive during the day. So try to sleep at a proper time, and don’t stay up too late scrolling on your iPhone!

Now that many of you are tackling the autumn semester, you may be struggling with time management after spending too much free time on summer break. Same here. You’re not alone in struggling to find the best way to manage time, so I hope my tips help some of you!
