Attending Zoom University is extremely beneficial but can be very tiring, especially if you add on extracurricular activities and work. The fatigue is real, and you must be able to take a few moments each day, or at least every other day, to take care of yourself. You should be able to recharge so that you can be at 100% or at least 85% each time you sit at your laptop. Here are some of the best practices for online school!

Buy Blue Light Glasses.

  • They are extremely helpful in preventing eye strain for the unusually long periods of time that most people are sitting in front of screens. You can purchase pairs for as low as $10 online and wear them with or without a prescription.

Set the alarm for each day where you will stop and walk away from your screen.

  • Understandably, some students are so busy that they can’t fully “unplug.” However, it is important that you give some time to yourself each day where you aren’t looking at any devices. This can help you gather your thoughts, remind yourself of your dreams, and just check in with yourself.

Identify a schedule that works for you throughout the day and follow it.

  • Recently, life has seemed more unpredictable each day. However, if you can try to create a routine for yourself to identify what each hour of the day will go to, you’ll slowly realize how it helps you avoid becoming distracted. Try adjusting it for each day and planning your week each Sunday.

Stay hydrated.

  • Staring at screens and staying sedentary for hours throughout the day is never what the doctor ordered. It’s important that you keep up with your health, and water is the key. Drinking the recommended amount of water each day can help you detox, stay energized, and prevent dry eyes.

Take advantage of the reliance on technology for productivity.

  • Since students are on their computers all day now, there’s no reason for homework assignments to be late! There are several productivity apps designed to help, such as Trello, Remindme, and Asana. You can also use your syllabus to prepare for upcoming dates.

There are only a few more weeks to this semester. You’ve got this!
