Finals Week Style Guide for HC

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

As much as we all hate finals week, it’s important to be optimistic during these dark times, to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. This is why I’m calling attention to the finals week style guide. Even at Holy Cross, the most stylish campus in New England, finals week is our vacation, and who doesn’t love a good vacation?! During finals week, we are all given a free style pass, which means a full week of comfortably, unflattering groutfits. So here are a few essential pieces you will most definitely be caught wearing here on Mount Saint James.

  1. Sweatshirts.Lots and lots of sweatshirts. Nothing is better than studying braless in Dinand and being completely comfortable with it, because all is hidden beneath the thick layers of an oversized, cotton, crewneck. Don’t deny it ladies; I know we’ve all been there.
  2. Sweatpants. To the girl wearing skinny jeans and riding boots, I feel sorry for you.
  3. UGG boots and L.L.Bean slippers. We all know our chestnut UGGs make us basic (you can’t argue the facts of life), but nobody is asking you to ignore the call of the world’s coziest slip-ons. Don’t be ashamed ladies, its finals week, be basic.
  4. Yoga Pants.Ok, so it’s mid-finals week, and you are starting to feel shapeless in all your oversized t-shirts. It’s definitely time to whip out the yoga pants that still provide you with that finals comfort you long but also let everyone in the library know you haven’t completely lost your style touch. Yoga pants are truly the perfect midweek pick me up.
  5. Fuzzy Fleece.Printed Patagonias make any day a little bit brighter.
  6. Hair Accessories.Amidst finals week stress, there may be a shower or two that gets overlooked not to mention finding your hairbrush among the wardrobe disaster that has become your bedroom is not a small feat. It’s in these dark moments that we call upon hair-ties and headbands to save us from a “be all, end all” hair day. With the life-saving powers of a headband and hair-tie, you can confidently walk out the door, both looking and feeling fabulous (but mostly feeling).

Happy exam week ladies, I know you’ll do well on your finals, because you’re all extremely intelligent young women. If not, remember you get to do it all over again in the spring… can you say redemption??
