This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Happy March collegiates! March is a great month because it’s all about women. It’s about celebrating the ones who paved the way for our rights and the ones who continue to do so today. So get in your Rosie the Riveter mindset and get ready to celebrate Women’s History month this week!

On Wednesday be sure to check out the Women’s HerSTORY Month Reception in the Student Center Plaza Rooms from 11:15-12:45. Special guests, Tammy Tibbetts and Christen Brandt, co-founders of She’s the First will be the featured speakers and will share their amazing experiences and stories about girls all over the world. She’s the First is a non-profit organization that raises money to send girls to school in developing countries. Learn more about She’s the First and the struggles girls still face when it comes to education. This is sure to be an amazing event, don’t miss out!

Friday is International Women’s Day! So take a moment to appreciate the amazing women in your life. Drop by the Student Center atrium table to write a postcard to a woman that has inspired you and Multicultural & International Student Programs office will send it for you!

Feel like singing it out in the name of women’s history? Go to Karaoke Night at Hofstra USA on Friday from 7:00-9:00 and choose a song by some of music’s most iconic women. You know you can’t resist jamming out to some Shania Twain!
