Team Bonding: Cards for Charity

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Last weekend the girls of our Hofstra Her Campus chapter gave back by gathering together to make holiday cards for charity. The cards were sent to a little girl named Safyre in the hopes of brightening her day this season.

With Justin Bieber’s Christmas album, Under The Mistletoe, blasting in the background, the girls went to town with glitter pens and colorful construction paper. In total, our team was able to make over forty cards to send to children.

Hailey Oliveri’s goal for her first semester as president was to get all the writers to be more than just by line names to each other. This called for more team bonding events!

Hailey said, “When Her Campus Adelphi first came to me about wanting to make cards for the Ronald McDonald house I was all in. When they we’re unable to come I had to make this an all Her Campus Hofstra event and it turned out really well. We made all these adorable cards and it was so nice to bond with everyone over something non writing related. I decided to finally send the cards to a little girl named Safyre who lost her family in an act of arson and is looking for everyone to send her cards. At the end of the day it makes me proud to have such caring and wonderful girls who are willing to take time out of their day to come make cards for people who need some extra cheer this holiday season.”

To the team members, the time spent together was nothing but fun! Who doesn’t love crafting with a bunch of girlfriends?

Naledi Ushe, Sophomore Her Campus writer said, “Not only did we enjoy the experience because we knew it would help others but we laughed the whole time. From talking about what qualities we like in guys to the absurdity of some nights out, the fun we had made the cold I have feel less sucky!”
