Single On Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

So it’s the most romantic day of the year…and you’re single. So what?!

Instead of moping about being single this week, let’s celebrate it! Think of all the reasons why being single is so fantastic. You get to do things on your time, with whom you want and where you want. No need to worry about someone else’s schedules or needs, it’s all about you. And what’s wrong with that?

Being single means you have time to focus on yourself, take advantage of it! This is the time to discover who you are and what you want. So this Valentine’s Day, do exactly what YOU want. Here are a few ideas…

Hang out with your single friends!

Get tons of chocolate, put on a Kate Hudson rom-com, and just hang. There really is nothing better than a girls’ night. Best friends are better than boys anyway!

Discover a new love.

Is there something you’ve been wanting to do lately or someone you’ve been dying to talk to but haven’t? Now is your time! Go to that yoga class or talk to that one person you keep thinking about. What better day than Valentine’s Day to fall in love with something new?

Send love someone else’s way.

Who says that Valentines Day is for just couples? Call your best friend just to remind them you love them, write your mom a letter, or just give someone a hug. However you do it, remind someone that they’re loved this Valentine’s Day.

And finally, love yourself.

As cheesy as it sounds, remember how great you are and that we aren’t defined based on our relationship status. Think about all the things you love about yourself and just be happy, because you deserve it.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all you single girls! This is our day too!
