Where are you interning next semester?
Food Network

How did you find this internship?
PRSSA Job Center

Did you apply to any others?
I applied to a ton, but I got interviews and was accepted offers at Quinn & Co., Bravo, and NYSE.

How did you end up choosing Food Network?
It was my first choice, the first one I applied to, and in a field that I am looking to pursue a career in.

What do you think are some qualities of a good intern? Bad intern?
Good intern: It’s good to ask questions, but to also make sure to stay one step ahead. If you already have a task done, try and go onto the next item. Also, if your tasks are complete, definitely be sure to be proactive and ask around to see if people, even if they aren’t in your department, need any help with anything.
Bad intern: Just there to do the work given and nothing else extra. It’s always important to stand out by doing your best work and then some.

How do you think you stand out against other candidates?
With my past internship experience and my strong leadership roles on campus, I have had many opportunities and experiences that I can bring to a new internship or place of work in the future that I worked hard to get.

What are your recommendations for anyone going for the same position?
It’s important to always stay in contact with the people who you sent out applications to. If you show interest and you’re persistent, then you will be remembered.

What are your plans for the summer?
I’m graduating in May and hoping to get a job!

Are there any members of the Hofstra faculty you would thank for helping you get where you are today?
Professor Semple – the PRSSA adviser and my internship adviser for the spring. Definitely making my senior year as smooth and enjoyable as possible!

What Hofstra activities were you involved in that you think aided your experience?
PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America), Resident Assistant, WRHU Radio Hofstra University, and the 2008 Presidential Debate Media Credentialing Center.
