NYFW Best of the Runway Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

I’m not a fashion expert here but all I’m saying is my friends wear more of my clothes than their own. With that being said I scoped every Snapchat Stories, followed various fashion editors and pretended to be in the know about New York Fashion Week looks this year to help inspire your spring fashion choices months in advance.

Jason Wu (@jasonwu)

If there is ever a time for patterns, it’s the springtime. But don’t just settle for florals because it’s the natural way to go. This look forces you to see that different patterns can be worn without the outfit overwhelming you or taking away from standing out.

Torrid (@torridfashion)

Torrid marks the first plus-size brand to show at NYFW: The Shows because I guess people just realized you can be plus-size and sexy? Regardless, this outfit is perfect for those early spring months when you want to show off but still keep it warm. A lace lingerie top, boyfriend-style jeans, and this chic AF leather jacket screams Saturday night and I love it!

Sally LaPointe (@sally_lapointe)

I honestly wanted to put all of her looks from her Spring 2018 Ready-to-Wear collection because they scream #girlboss. Some of her looks were super luxurious and others like the one featured say please hold, I’m trying to run an empire. I’m assuming the price tag for this look is crazy but honestly whoever wears it has definitely worked hard to buy it.

Ulla Johnson (@ullajohnson)

This collection is super feminine and light, perfect to match with a glass of wine for spring aesthetic purposes. The runway itself is enchanting and this look itself is super romantic. If you have a warm spring day and are looking to stroll through Central Park, this look is for you.

Brandon Maxwell (@brandonmaxwell)

Power suits are in, red is always in – everything about this is just yes. Maxwell’s runway models included Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss to name a few so it’s safe to say he understands what powerful women want to wear.

Fenty x Puma (@fentyxpuma)

I am personally not brave enough for anything in this collection but Rihanna gave me some Zenon vibes and they were too fierce not to include. With this look, I’m not sure if you’re going clubbing, working out or chilling at the beach but I love it.

Michael Kors (@michaelkors)

I’ll be honest here, I’m not sure if this is my favorite look of the collection or my favorite model. But this all white, spring cabana look is a win for me – I’d probably wear it.

Alright college fashionistas, go off, shop and continue to be the definition of chic!

Additionally Naledi is one of those classic people who studies abroad in the spring of 2016 and won't ever stop talking about it! Her best advice? Go and see the world kids and fall in love with your major like Ali and Noah from the Notebook fell in love with each other.
