Neon Green Made a Comeback: Coachella Fashion Trends 2023

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Everyone was hyped up for the last weekend of Coachella. Besides the amazing artists that played into the early hours of the morning, many spectators were focused on the fashion of the music festival. Coachella fashion tends to invoke new trends, bring back retro trends and add a bit of fun fashion into a girl’s wardrobe when it’s much needed. So, let’s get into the Coachella 2023 fashion trends that were popular this year.

cowboy boots in white, please

With the popular TikTok video of the hoards of girls wearing white cowboy boots, space cowboy or maybe white cowboy was a common theme amongst the fashion-goers. Since the music festival has a strong boho theme, many Southern or hippie trends are characteristic of the style. This year the all-white was popular amongst smaller influencers and some of the celebrities that attended. Charli D’Amelio even made it to the festival wearing a Marta Del Rio dress with jagged edges and belt detailing. No cowboy boots, though. Celebs like Lori Harvey, Emma Chamberlain, The Weeknd and his girlfriend Simi Khadra, and Olivia Culpo pulled off stunning all-white looks that were giving both weekends of Coachella. Shout out to the all-black outfits that complimented all the white.

Sheer or mesh

The hot weather has every festival-goer thinking about how to stay cool yet stylish throughout the weekend they spend in the blistering heat. Many opted for little to nothing for their outfits, but mesh dresses and shirts were a go-to. Shocker. Irina Shayk came in a Rat & Boa Selena dress with ruffles that added movement to the look. Madison Bailey came in a boho-styled crochet maxi dress with a black bikini underneath for the first weekend of Coachella. Honest truth is to keep cool and wear mesh.

Orange, pink and neon Green?

Oranges, pinks and neon greens galore. With the upcoming Barbie movie coming out, Barbie pink and Barbie outfits were coming out of the closet. Belbottom jeans and all-pink monochrome outfits were a must-see at the festival. Performers, Blackpink and Zendaya, even rocked all-pink outfits on stage. Orange was an interesting accent color for Alessandra Ambrosio with her orange cutout pants by Raisa Vanessa. Even Madison Pettis wore an all-orange ensemble. Yara Shahidi wore a lovely orange sequence skirt. Speaking of accent colors, neon green made a comeback from 2010 fashion with looks by Sarah Sampaio and Justine Skye. Flo Mili popped off with a multi-colored Pucci bikini with a disco-esque patterned outfit. Speaking of multi-colored, Bad Bunny was part of the colorful look rocking the multi-patterned ERL puffer jacket while performing.

One of the unique trends this year was denim-on-denim looks. Emma Chamberlain was iconic with her denim mini dress and white fanny pack. Full denim looks from Kali Uchi, Renee Rapp and Landon Barker gave the 2001 Brittany Spears and Justin Timberlake American Music Awards vibes. Statement-piece jeans were also a serve for this year’s Coachella fashion from looks by Camila Cabello, Hailey Beiber with the oversized look and Becky G with the all-blue. A denim over denim look was quite popular amongst the festival-goers as well as the celebs.
