If We Were to Match-Make Celebrities

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

We see them on television, in movies, and in concerts…and we can’t help but to imagine what it would be like if our favorite celebrities dated in real life. While we can’t always predict who will date who and who will have the nastiest breakup, following high profile relationships is a guilty pleasure for many of us. Here are some celebrities who would make the ultimate Hollywood power couple:

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams

This one is a no brainer. They lit up the screen as Noah and Alle in The Notebook, and they even dated briefly in real life after the movie premiered. Nothing would make Nicholas Sparks fans happier than seeing these two lovebirds together again.

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens

Tweens rejoiced after these High School Musical co-stars announced their real-life relationship after the movie premiered on Disney Channel. When their fairytale young love came to an end, fans were heartbroken. Today, the internet would most likely break if these two rekindled their romance.

Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester

These two ruled the Upper East Side as Chuck and Blair on Gossip Girl, and they would make the perfect power couple in real life. After Westwick told E! News that he was “madly in love with Leighton,” fans prepared themselves for the ultimate TV-to-real life relationship. Ultimately, they parted ways and Meester gave birth to a daughter with husband Adam Brody in 2015. However, nothing can ever stop us from imagining them stepping out of a limo together in the heart of Manhattan…

Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo

As Doctor Derek Shepherd and Doctor Meredith Grey, Dempsey and Pompeo had the perfect roller-coaster relationship on Grey’s Anatomy. Fans loved hard and grieved even harder over the 11 seasons they shared on the TV drama, and the only thing that can mend fans’ broken hearts is seeing these two date in real life (or Doctor Christina Yang…but we’ll hope for a real life relationship).

John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer

They made hearts flutter as Jim and Pam on The Office, and the evolution of their love was the definition of relationship goals. Even though they went on to get married and start families with different people after the show ended, fans still dream about the classic office love story they shared at Dunder Mifflin.

Ian Harding and Lucy Hale

Their teacher-student relationship between Ezra and Aria on Pretty Little Liars was unconventional, but there is no denying the chemistry between Harding and Hale. Though they’ve never publicly announced a relationship, they’re often featured on each other’s social media accounts, giving fans a glimmer of hope that someday, Ezria could be real.

Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato

They both got their start as Disney Channel child stars, and these two are friends to this day. They’re touring together in 2016 and Nick was the creative director of Demi’s “Neon Lights” tour. Even though Demi briefly dated Nick’s brother, Joe, years ago, this relationship would be a match made in musical heaven.

Niall Horan and Selena Gomez

These singers were reportedly seen on a few dates in December 2015, sending “Nelena” shippers into a frenzy. While sources have said that these two are just friends, there’s no denying that they would make a beautiful and talented power couple that would dominate the music industry.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet

Is this one even a question? The couple has been melting hearts since they starred as ill-fated lovers in Titanic in 1997. Since then, they’ve remained close friends, and every time they reunite at awards shows they remind fans just how perfect they would be together. Until this ultimate match comes together, our hearts will have to go on.

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris

These singers are incredibly successful in their respective music genres, he in music production and mixing and she in pop, and they’ve had their share of previous high profile relationships. But the “friendly relations between America and Scotland”, as captioned in one of Swift’s Instagram posts of the two, prove that sometimes we’re lucky enough to see a dream couple together in real life. Since they became public in 2015, the pair has proved time and time again that they’re one of the sweetest couples in Hollywood, and it gives hope that someday the rest of our favorite pairings could become a reality.
