If I Had a Million Dollars… Here’s What I’d Buy

If I suddenly woke up with a million dollars, I would like to say I would be responsible with all my newfound money, but the truth is, I would spend a lot of it immediately. Obviously, I would put some of the money into my savings account and invest some as well, because I don’t want to be the new version of Schitt’s Creek. Still, I would also buy things that are unnecessary, dramatic and just fun in very ridiculous ways.

1. Harry Styles Floor Tickets

As a longtime fan of Harry Styles, I have been lucky enough to see him live twice, and am going a third time, but his prices have risen too high. I was unable to afford the floor tickets I have been dreaming about for much of my life. I want to be close enough to see his facial expressions and, even possibly, make eye contact. These tickets cost more than many people’s monthly rent, so millionaire me would be able to justify them more easily.

2. A Trip to London

I spent five months studying abroad in London last year, and it was the best time of my life. I would do anything to return and visit all my favorite spots. I would plan this trip for some of the theater shows I’ve been dying to see, mainly Sunday in the Park with George starring Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey. I would love to see this show and many others, as well as spend days relaxing and walking through London’s parks.

3. A Trip to Thailand

Another trip I have been dying to take is to Thailand. It is one of my dream vacation spots, with beautiful beaches, amazing food and relaxing resorts, and I would love to be immersed in a completely different culture.

4. First Class Flights

Because many of the places I would use this money to visit are far away, I would use the extra money to buy first-class flights. I have always been curious about how the giant seats recline, how the warm towels are used and the amazing sleep that all these rich people seem to get on these flights.

5. Dyson Air Wrap

As someone with insanely thick hair, curling, drying or even brushing it is so draining. I believe that with the Dyson Air Wrap, I would be able to do my hair more quickly and dread it less. I know that it’s viral online, but I still feel like it could change my entire life.

6. A Huge Home Library

I have been dying to grow my book collection and to have the perfect space to spend hours reading. I want a library with at least two stories of books and a giant ladder like Belle has in Beauty and the Beast. I want people to see me as intellectual and mysterious. Realistically, it would mainly be filled with romance novels.

7. A Personal Chef

I cannot cook for the life of me, and my biggest issue is coming up with meal ideas. I think having a personal chef would solve this issue for me, and I would be able to spend more time doing the things I love instead of accidentally putting sugar in place of salt in recipes.

8. Extra Guac with my Chipotle

This might seem wild to put on this list, but I love guacamole, and I can never justify the $3 it costs to put it on my bowl. Being able to order it without checking my bank account would make it that much tastier.

9. Target Shopping Trip

Every time I step into Target, I could easily spend over $1,000 without trying. Unfortunately, I don’t have this luxury. Between the clothes, skincare, books and electronics, I would have a blast buying all the random products I have been wanting to try but haven’t because of the price.

10. Concert and Theatre Tickets

I am a major patron of the arts and love seeing live entertainment. Instead of spending days pondering whether the ticket price is worth it, I could buy tickets to whatever I wanted to go to and drag all my friends with me free of charge.

Having a million dollars wouldn’t just be about buying expensive things; it would be about having the financial freedom to enjoy life without stressing about prices and responsibilities. While some of my purchases would be more dramatic and unnecessary, they would also make me happier and help me experience life to the fullest, as I dream about.
