My TikTok “For You” page is filled with nothing but Christmas and winter content. My phone is pushing me to skip pumpkins, apples and classic novels and just straight to Christmas trees, cookies and snow. I don’t want to skip ahead so I’ve been curating a list of ways to romanticize the “‘ber.’ months.
Use a fall body wash and lotion
Adding a pumpkin or apple scent to a shower routine brings the fall aroma to everyday life throughout the season. My favorite fall scent is Champagne Apple and Honey. Bath and Body Works combines jasmine honey, sparkling champagne and crisp apple to make the scent. The best part: the company makes a matching candle. You can light the perfect fall candle during a cozy shower.
Cozy fall scents are on the cheaper side at T.J. Maxx and Marshall’s locations so buying body wash and lotions doesn’t need to be an expensive purchase season to season.
Read a classic novel
Reading a spooky novel can also put someone in a fall mood – a classic novel can make a reading session even more fall. A classic novel including “Dracula” and “Frankenstein” are meant to be read during October. Dracula and Frankenstein are the original monsters to haunt kids’ dreams. The novels tell the story of why Dracula and Frankenstein spook readers.
Light that candle, grab a hot chocolate, put your phone on “Do not disturb” and jump into a good book.
Visit a pumpkin patch
The most perfect way to romanticize the season is to participate in fall activities like picking apples and visiting a pumpkin patch. Dressing up in a jean skirt and knit sweater to take pictures around hay bales and pumpkins encapsulates the fall season. Most farms have a haunted hayride and spooky opportunities so you can experience a perfect cozy fall and spooky Halloween activity.
Watch a Halloween movie
Halloween movies are essential to the fall months. The best movies are the Disney Original movies including “Twitches,” “Hocus Pocus” and the “Halloweentown” franchise. The movies allow viewers to fully immerse in the Halloween season, watching ghouls, witches and ghosts fill their screen on fun-filled adventures.
Baking fall sweet-treats
A fall sweet treat not only is the perfect snack for cozy nights, but the smell of baking also creates a fall aroma to completely fill up a house. Cinnamon buns, pumpkin bread and apple pies are the perfect dessert to end a fall night.
Only a few weeks into October, there is no reason to start celebrating Christmas. It may be my favorite time of year, but I want to appreciate the fall season as a studious college student. To romanticize these months, I’ve picked up “Carrie” by Stephan King, prioritized the Starbucks’ fall coffee menu and found cider mills for apple-flavored beverages.
