Cheers could be heard throughout Hofstra USA as students gathered on Sunday to watch Super Bowl XLVI. With all TVs showing the big game, as well as a giant projector screen playing it, the excitement radiated. Students cheered, jumping out of the chairs as the game wound down to a nerve-wracking conclusion. The Giants won, 21- 17.Several circular tables were set up in front of the projector screen, but students overflowed onto the stairs and the floor. Many more chose to sit in the regular dining area, pulling chairs close to the television to catch every minute of the action. The festivities started at 5 p.m. and continued until the game ended around 10.Â

Throughout the game the employees of Hofstra USA, as well as student volunteers, served up free snacks. Those snacks included mozzarella cheese sticks, popcorn chicken, and nachos. There were also several raffles in which the students won prizes such as Starbucks and Barnes and Noble gift cards and a television. Yet the biggest hit by far was the ice cream sundaes and root beer floats which had students lined up around the room.
The game’s end result left some students disappointed while others stood on chairs, whooped, clapped, and displayed their New York Giant pride. This Super Bowl event concluded Hofstra’s Winter Blast, a weekend long event that included activities such as Pre La Fete and Mardival.
