Any flight over 5 hours is a literal pain in the neck! When you set off on your journey the key is comfort because during those few hours you need to be able to offset jet lag and wake up your best self. There’s honestly nothing worse than looking at a beautiful setting without fresh and bright eyes!

Here are the flight essentials to keep you comfy:

1. Neck Pillow
In the event that your seat is not ideal and you would rather not be that person who falls asleep on other people’s shoulders than get a good neck pillow! And for maximum comfort invest in a memory foam neck pillow for all futures adventures!

2. Sleep-Aid
I only recommend this if you have at least 7 hours of uninterrupted flight time because being on a plane for that long easily makes people anxious and antsy. With a sleep aid you can get the proper R&R to fight jet lag!

3. A Book
Whether it is something you already started or a new novel, a book will prevent you from the boredom that is outdated movies on the airline and also might help put you to sleep since reading tends to lower your heart rate!

4. Stuffed Animal
This may feel embarrassing to some but honestly so what?! If you know that you sleep with the same stuffed animal each night, don’t let this flight interrupt your grove cause that sleep loss is worse than strangers judging you!

5. Leggings
If you don’t mind wearing sweatpants go for it! But for the girls that want to be comfy and photo ready for on and off the plane, leggings can give you the comfort of curling up but also still have the boys staring upon arrival!

6. Spirit Jersey or Loose Long Sleeve
The plane gets cold and rather than feeling overheated in a sweatshirt a spirit jersey gives you a warm layer that’s cute but also roomie for tossing and turning!

7. Fuzzy Socks
During a long flight the most uncomfortable feeling is keeping your shoes on the whole time! Bring fuzzy socks with you so your toes stay warm but also you won’t feel gross walking through the aisles with a decent space between your feet and the floor!

8. Headphones

Bring these for both music purposes and incase you get stuck with the snorer! At least this way you can tune people who snore and crying babies as you listen to your favorite soundtrack!

Hofstra '17
Hofstra Chapter Vice President (December '16 - December '17)

From a young age Naledi has been obsessed with all things pop culture and entertainment. Through writing for Her Campus she has been able to reach a large audience of badass collegiate women who share her crazy passions as well. Beyond Her Campus Naledi is IN LOVE with Hofstra. Her favorite part? The school of comm for allowing her to branch out and get a real dip into the real world prior to graduating. Additionally Naledi is one of those classic people who studies abroad in the spring of 2016 and won't ever stop talking about it! Her best advice? Go and see the world kids and fall in love with your major like Ali and Noah from the Notebook fell in love with each other.
Coming from a small town in Connecticut, Hailey is a recent graduate of Hofstra University. She spent her time in school working as the Campus Correspondent for the Hofstra chapter of Her Campus where she led the chapter to a pink level status every semester she oversaw the chapter. She also served as the Personnel Director for Marconi Award Winning station WRHU-FM. While holding multiple positions at Hofstra, she was a communications intern at Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment, the company that oversees Barclays Center and Nassau Veteran's Memorial Coliseum.
