I’ve gotten takeout from Wild Fig twice this semester and plan to be back many more times, especially since I am now a card-carrying Wild Fig rewards card member. That fact alone should tell you how good the food is here: usually I automatically respond to any cashier’s offer of a rewards card with a “No, thanks” like everyone else, but something about the delicious smell wafting from the kitchen made me pause and say, “Why not?” As if I need to give myself more reasons to buy food.

I’ve had both the Chicken Gyro Wrap and the Falafel Wrap (the latter is totally vegetarian, FYI). All wraps come on pita bread, as seen in the photo above, with lettuce, tomato, onion, and yogurt sauce on the side. The wraps are not something you can eat in any ladylike manner, but it’s worth it so long as you don’t care that you look like a total slob trying to eat this giant thing overflowing with lettuce and chicken. Which I definitely did not.  I’ve also gotten their hummus and pita appetizer, pictured above, which can be split between two people, and their grape leaves appetizer. Last time I also went for some chocolate almond baklava, which was big enough for me to share with a friend (though I could have easily eaten the whole thing myself: so good). Wild Fig is a great alternative to Hummus Place for Hofstra students; the two restaurants offer similar food but Wild Fig is much closer and doesn’t require a train ride to the city. My only objection is that they don’t deliver—because what’s better than delicious gyros and baklava? Delicious gyros and baklava delivered right to your door.
