Five Activites to do This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Fall is when the leaves fall and the temperature drops. Many people might not know what to do now that the weather is chilling out but with popular holidays such as Halloween, the Day of the Dead, and Thanksgiving there’s actually a lot to do. Though not as warm as spring or summer, fall also has a number of activities to do with both family or friends. Some of those fun fall activities include:

1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch

While it’s favorable among young kids, pumpkin patches are for everyone to enjoy! Visit a pumpkin patch and choose from pumpkins in all sizes to either bake, carve, or turn into an edible drink or scent (if you know how to do that). Pumpkin patches are also great places to bring family or friends to take Instagram worthy photos!

2. Go to a Corn Maze

Not to be confused with scary corn mazes from the movies, corn mazes can be either scary or more PG 13. Test your direction skills as you walk through a corn maze! If you’re not the best with directions, corn mazes are also great for group activities, so if you get lost at least you’ll have a group of people you can depend on. It’s also best to go in the early afternoon as corn mazes can be somewhat creepy at night.

3. A Haunted House

Since Halloween has yet to pass, haunted houses are still on the streets looking for victims to scare. Most of the popular haunted house will be packed so it’ll be best to arrive early. Haunted houses are great one-time experiences if you’re not into scary things but are willing to try new stuff. Haunted houses are very popular among family or friends who like to take pictures to post on social media.

4. Visit a Fall Fest

Whether its Fright Fest or a regular fall festival, these are places where you could have a great time! Either flying solo, with family, or friends there’s a bunch of activities to do at a festival. You can get your face painted, play numerous games hosted by booths, and maybe even visit a haunted house! Let’s not forget all the picture-worthy places to build memories for your scrapbook or Instagram feed.

5.  Go hiking in a Greenbelt Trail

Take a hike in the cool weather and enjoy the colorful leaves at a Greenbelt tail in your state. There you can get your daily steps in while photographing the beautiful autumn scenery. This activity can be done alone for introverts who enjoy the outdoors or by people in groups who enjoy hiking and social media worthy pictures.

With all these activities, there’s always something to do in the beautiful season of fall so don’t sit bored at home and enjoy some cool fresh air alone, with family, or friends!
