It’s that time of the semester where final assignments need to get done ahead of time and you need to claim your favorite study spot on campus to get everything done. We went around campus to find some of the more secluded and quiet places on campus that will help you avoid any major noise and distractions.

10th Floor of Axinn Library
If you want a spot that is quiet but has a nice aerial view, this floor of the Axinn library is for you. There are about 10-15 tables that are meant for one person to use at a time but sometimes you can get away with having a friend or two sit at your table as long as you stay quiet. The neatest part about this floor is that you can see the New York City skyline and it looks beautiful as you watch the sunset (or sunrise if you plan to take advantage of the 24 hour timings of the Axinn library in December).

Allan Tod Gittleson Hall
Those of you who have taken or are currently taking biology courses know that Gittleson Hall is full of offices and lab rooms. This semester, the department finally opened up a new student lounge (room 131) with a white board, a fridge, and a microwave, which is convenient for all of you commuters who don’t have access to these utilities on campus!

Café on the Quad
If you enjoy the atmosphere of a typical Starbucks coffee shop but don’t have enough time to drive over to the one on Hempstead Turnpike, Café on the Quad is the closest spot to study at. There you can get your favorite Starbucks drink or snack while you study for your finals or get those final assignments finished.

Netherlands
The Netherlands is the perfect spot on campus to relax on a couch and stay up to date with the news displayed on the screens above the cake and coffee stand. It’s a good spot to get some group studying done since the main café area is spacious and has ambient noise.

Hagedorn Hall Lobby

This building sort of resembles CV Starr where there is a tiny café inside to pick up yogurt, ice cream, coffee, or a packed salad. Although it may be out of the way for some, their lobby is full of outlets and seats that range from total isolation away from other people to tables where you can sit down with a few friends. In the entrance area is a piano, so you can play some music during a study break.

Maurice A. Dean School of Law Library
If you go upstairs in this building, you can find the main study lounge where there are many tables to sit at to do some work and eat your favorite snacks at. There are a couple of microwaves in this area where you can make a quick cup of tea or warm up some food.
