This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Many people view guys at Hofstra as a one size fits all. Typically you will find the various personalities intermingling but make no mistake, they are all VERY different. From introvert to extrovert there is at least one guy at Hofstra bound to strike your interest!

Lawn-Guy-Land GuysFor those of you who weren’t born on the island, our experience with these guys stems from reality television and hoping that the stereotypes were overinflated in order to gain increased ratings. Sadly, these shows were right. Large egos mixed with momma’s boy tendencies are a recipe for sensitivity issues that take a special girl to handle.

AthletesYou know right off the bat, pun intended, what team they’re on immediately. Like fraternities these guys eat, sleep, train and breath together which results in you never finding them alone. In the event that you crush on one teammate be prepared to meet the whole squad before your first intimate conversation. Regardless every girl seems to see sweatpants on guys in the same way guys see dresses on girls so it’s a win-win knowing they’ll always dress super lax.

Foreign BoysThe ratio of foreigners to American born girls is sadly disproportional. We have a large enough exchange student population, enough to notice, which then creates a high demand but low supply. Foreign boys are viewed with the same elite status as designer bags. Honestly we all crave conversation with someone who sounds interesting despite not always being able to understand his personal lingo.

Frat BrosOne thing Hofstra surprises us with Greek life is that each fraternity has a very distinct personality from the next. I almost separated this category in order to cover all the bases but for the sake of your time I won’t. The overwhelming similarity is that brotherhood means everything and in their presence you are a mere disposable mortal. Don’t expect special treatment, they have a responsibility to the org before you.

StonersThese guys all stick together for recreational purposes and drug referrals. Every dealer works by a code of whom they are allowed to sell to. As boyfriend prospects they sadly lack the ability to have conversation unless under the influence resulting in a lot of “bruh, just chill” in the conversation. One thing you can count on however is there endless stream of conscience jokes.

Awkward/NerdyWe have an abundance of these guys at Hofstra. They’re the super nice type that you’ll find yourself casually talking to in an elevator at one of the towers and think “aw I want to give him a makeover”. You’ll continue to talk to him but quickly realize that you always need to carry on the conversation because quite frankly their awkwardness inhibits them from having in depth conversation.

Boy Next DoorThese guys are your best friends. You meet these guys in line for food or during orientation as well as welcome week and find yourself struggling to understand why they are single. As you get super close you begin to shy away from the notion that you should be together and revert into a meaningful, “you’ll always be there for each other” friendship. Although secretly we know that you see marriage in the future.

Being able to recognize all the various guys at Hofstra will hopefully prevent you from complaining how there are no guys you’re interested in. You just have to look! After all, the male to female ratio is pretty favorable.

From a young age Naledi has been obsessed with all things pop culture and entertainment. Through writing for Her Campus she has been able to reach a large audience of badass collegiate women who share her crazy passions as well. Beyond Her Campus Naledi is IN LOVE with Hofstra. Her favorite part? The school of comm for allowing her to branch out and get a real dip into the real world prior to graduating. Additionally Naledi is one of those classic people who studies abroad in the spring of 2016 and won't ever stop talking about it! Her best advice? Go and see the world kids and fall in love with your major like Ali and Noah from the Notebook fell in love with each other.
Coming from a small town in Connecticut, Hailey is a recent graduate of Hofstra University.
