6 Things to do If You Don’t Care About the Super Bowl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Super Bowl Sunday is almost upon us – but if you couldn’t care less about the Eagles and the Patriots battling it out in for the 52nd Championship in Minneapolis, your Sunday doesn’t have to go to waste. Here are six things to do instead if you don’t care for the game.

Tune in just for the halftime show.

Even if sports aren’t your thing, you won’t want to miss Justin Timberlake’s half time show. Even though we’re not sure if anything can top Beyoncé’s 2013 performance (where she literally shut the place down) we can’t wait to hear Timberlake’s new music. And even though chances are slim, we can’t help but hope for an NYSNC reunion.

Watch the Puppy Bowl.

What’s better than football? Puppies playing football. Tune into Animal Planet at 3 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday to watch Team Ruff and Team Fluff battle it out on the field. Even better? All the animals competing this year were rescued from areas hit by natural disasters in 2017. We’re not crying, you are.

Make (and eat) ~all~ of the game day snacks.

We all know the best part of any sporting event is the food that comes with it. Find yourself a Super Bowl party (or plan your own) and indulge in buffalo chicken dip, chips and queso, wings, pizza and more. Is your mouth watering yet?

Prepare for This Is Us.

This Is Us will air on NBC right after the game ends – this special episode airs right after the real life Super Bowl to mirror the Pearson’s story, which picks up after they just watched the Super Bowl, too. If you’ve been keeping up with the series, you know what that means: you’ll find out what really happened to Jack. Get the tissues ready.

Do your laundry.

If you live in a dorm, you know the struggle of trying to find an open washing machine, especially on a Sunday. But since most everyone else will be preoccupied by the game, take advantage of the empty laundry rooms and get that wash done that you’ve been putting off for weeks.

Call your mom.

If your mom also doesn’t care about sports, she’d love to hear from you! Plus, if you’ve got a dad or brothers who love football, she’ll appreciate the chance to escape the craziness coming from the living room.
