So Valentine’s Day is here… If you’re one of the people that dreads seeing all the PDA couple pictures on social media and vomits when you see two people holding hands, then you have clearly been watching the wrong rom-coms. Trust me, I feel the exact same way. But, watching these feel-good movies about romance reminds me that love does exist. No more sitting at home crying about being lonely. Instead, sit at home and watch these rom-coms, knowing that one day you’re going to have the same love and passion that the characters do. Just have patience and I can guarantee that you will find that spark.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is a classic Valentine’s Day movie, but you can’t just watch the first one. All three movies in the series are now available to watch on Netflix. In case you live under a rock and have never seen these films, all three deal with first love, love triangles, and finally, the reality of love itself. There are ups and downs, but overall, Lara Jean gave us exactly what we needed in this rom-com.

He’s Just Not That Into You

In my opinion, this film is a must-watch for rom-com lovers. First off, it has a star-studded cast: from Jennifer Aniston to Scarlett Johansson to Bradley Cooper and everyone in between. “He’s Just Not That Into You” has every type of relationship you can imagine. It brings you through the good, the bad, the ups and the downs that all relationships go through. This movie is my comfort film, and I will argue with anyone who thinks it is anything less than amazing.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell. Do I have to explain any further? This dynamic duo really brought their all in this film. There are so many rom-coms that are barely romantic and aren’t the slightest bit funny, but this movie goes above and beyond in both aspects.

13 Going on 30

When you were 13-years-old, do you remember wishing to be older and to live your own life? Well, this wish comes true for the main character, Jenna, when she suddenly wakes up in a 30-year-old’s body. As one of the most iconic rom-coms out there, this is a must-watch for Valentine’s Day. The film’s humor and love prove that rom-coms don’t get much better than this.

Set It Up

“Set It Up” brings together all of the best rom-com plot points to produce an extremely well-written love story. Although it only came out three years ago, it feels so classic, as if it’s always been around. This film is equally hilarious as it is romantic. The jokes keep on pouring out, and the love only grows stronger. “Set It Up” may be a tad predictable, but it is predictable in the best ways possible.

Whether you’re a romance or a comedy person, I can guarantee these rom-coms will be a hit for everyone. Everyone needs a day off to relax, so why not enjoy that day watching a feel-good movie about love that will have you on the floor cackling? That would be a day well spent!

Kayla is a junior at Hofstra University, majoring in journalism and minoring in creative writing and public relations. She has a passion for writing and traveling. A future aspiration of hers consists of becoming a travel writer, or working for a magazine. If you ever need to find her, I recommend checking the mall because she loves spending all her money on clothes that she doesn't need. When not shopping, she can be found watching something on Disney Plus(probably Tangled).
