4 Flawless Makeup Looks for Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

It’s that time of year again! A time for red roses, love letters, and covering just about anything in chocolate. With February 14 appearing just around the corner, women around the world anxiously await their chance for that perfect night. Whether you’re cozying up by the fire with your significant other, going out to dinner with the man of your dreams, or just having a girl’s night in, watching The Notebook, and drinking your favorite bottle of wine, there’s no reason not to rock some pink cheeks and a bold lip! Here are four flawless Valentine’s Day makeup looks, as inspired by YouTube’s top beauty vloggers, that will surely turn heads no matter what the occasion.

1. Dramatic Date Night

If you’re really looking to attract cupid’s arrow this Valentine’s Day, then this chic look is the perfect fit! Beauty guru, Nicole Guerriero recommends this dark eye and lip for a romantic night out.

Guerriero suggests starting off with a primer like Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($36) to prep the skin. Next, you want to use a foundation that will blend beautifully to create the flawless finish meant for this look. Try L’Oreal’s True Match Foundation ($10.95) in your designated shade, one of Guerriero’s favorite products for effortless coverage.

Moving on to eyes, sweep on a rusted red-brown shadow all over your lid. Guerriero uses the Melt Cosmetics Stack in Dark Matter ($48) with the shades Blurr, Unseen, and Enigma to complete this dramatic eye. Lastly, make sure to use your favorite volumizing mascara to coat your lashes!

To top off this look, you want to dust on a deep-colored blush and lipstick. Guerriero suggests applying MAC’s Melba Blush ($22) to the apples of your cheeks and Anastasia’s Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks in Heather and Sad Girl ($20) to your lips.

2. Romantic Rendezvous

Looking for a makeup look that you can wear for a daytime stroll with your valentine? As seen in Carli Bybel’s Valentine’s Day Makeup Tutorial, you can achieve this bright pink lip complimented by a perfectly lined eye if you follow these simple steps.

Bybel plays with subtle pink and gold colors on her lid to keep up with that light, daytime theme. She suggests using the shades Faithful and Feisty from The Balm Nude Dude Palette ($39.50) all over the eye. Then, to create the winged line, Bybel uses the Kat Von D Black Tattoo Liner ($19). To finish off the eyes, use a mascara that will lengthen your lashes without leaving them appearing too clumpy. Remember, we want this look to be romantic for Valentine’s Day but delicate for the sunlight hours.

Finally, you want to wear a rosy-pink lipstick that will support this flirtatious look and last all day! Bybel recommends Rimmel’s Exaggerate Lip Liner in the color Pure ($5.95) to line the lips and Anastasia’s Liquid Lipstick in Carina ($20) on top for that perfect finish.

3. Natural Night In

Who says you have to go out on Valentine’s Day in order to look fabulous? Here is a look inspired by YouTube’s very own RayeRaye that will suit a night in with him or a sleepover with the girls!

To start off this natural makeup look, skip the foundation and use a mineral powder that will supply coverage without looking like you have too much on! Try the BareMinerals Original Powder Foundation ($28) in a shade that compliments the undertones of your skin. Then, on your cheekbones and around your forehead, apply a bronzer that is a shade darker than your natural color to bring warmth to your face.

Next, you want to take that same bronze color you previously applied and work it on the outer crease of each eye. This will open up the eyes and provide an overall even look. To finish, thinly line your eyes, preferably using a black pencil such as Lorac’s Front of the Line Pro Liquid Eyeliner ($23). Then, keeping the lashes subtle, use a mascara that will accentuate the natural length of your lashes.

For the lips, RayeRaye suggests that you keep it simple! Apply a shade like NYX’s Matte Lipstick ($6) in the color Nude to keep in the range of natural tones. Or, if you want to keep in the Valentine’s Day spirit, feel free to rock a light pink lip!

4. Glamorous Getaway

For those girls that plan on being whisked away for a night full of glamour this Valentine’s Day, this dark romance look will surely make any outfit pop! Sammi, a well-known beauty and fashion vlogger throughout the U.K. and the U.S., uses light pink shades accompanied by deep purples to really enhance one’s natural features.

To begin, Sammi uses the NARS Oil-free Primer ($34) followed by Georgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation ($36.50) to prepare the skin for some light powder and bronzer for contouring.

Moving on to the eyes, you want to use alternating shades of purple in the crease of your lids and then work the colors out to the ends of your brows. Sammi uses Urban Decay’s Naked on the Run Palette ($37) to achieve this deep-toned look. Next, be sure to line the eyes with a black liquid eyeliner pencil of your choice, slightly winging out the ends. You can even go above and beyond by applying fake lashes like the Eylure Strip Lashes in No.116 ($4) in order to add a little something extra to this look.

And for the final touch, if you hadn’t seen it coming already, the lips! You want to apply a layer of MAC’s Lingering Kiss Lipstick ($16) for that bold, matte finish.

So, whether you’re hitting the town, going to dinner with friends, or enjoying a quiet night at home, these makeup looks will surely dazzle for any Valentine’s Day occasion!
