Hi there! This article series is all about getting into making delicious, healthy, and various smoothies! Each part focuses on one central aspect of the smoothie. Except this introductory one, which is all about getting into that smoothie-making mood!

Things to consider before starting your smoothie journey:

What kind of blender to use? If you have a blender, great! If not, you need to do some thinking on what the important things about a blender are. You can absolutely get a super cheap one with student budget (say 20 to 50 €). However, these usually won’t be powerful enough to crush ice or work on all dry ingredients. The high power ones might seem costly but having that smooth blend can be essential when deciding what to make for breakfast! So just start by checking out different blenders and reading your reviews – you’re bound to find the one that fits your needs!

Why are you getting into smoothies? Health, hurry or hunger? Whatever the reason, you might want to try some different recipes! If you just want to trick yourself into eating your greens, there are tons of phenomenal ways to make the perfect green smoothie. If you want something more filling, you might want to consider recipes with nut butter, protein powder or oatmeal. If you just want a yummy drink, sky’s the limit! From ice cream to fruits and berries, the possibilities are endless!

What about the consistence? When you start making smoothies, make sure to add the liquid to your blend gradually. This way, you can best determine how watery the smoothie will be. We all have our own preferences, and it’s quite difficult to estimate how much liquid you need if you’re not familiar with the ingredients. Likewise, if you’re working with, for example, fresh ginger or turmeric, you might want to add just a little liquid and the root to blend it into a smooth paste before adding all the other ingredients; that way, you won’t get a bunch of massive chunks of ginger in your mouthful!

Next week, we’ll share advice on the base!
