If you go back to December of 2021, you’ll find that I wrote an article about the Ultimate Hawai’i kbbq place debate, Gen versus Sikdorak. At that time, I hadn’t experienced going to Suras yet so I didn’t include it in the article. However, if you ask me now, I would 10000% go to Suras over Gen or Sikdorak any day.

One of my favorite things about Suras is how simple and convenient it is to book a table. When I spontaneously want to eat Suras after my desk shift at my RA job, my friends and I just go to Yelp and click “book a table” and reserve a table via OpenTable. They’ll text me when my reservation is soon and it also makes a calendar event so that my phone knows when to be put on do not disturb mode.

As for the customer service, it is absolutely phenomenal! No matter which server we get, they are always so attentive and sweet! They check up on us and are happy to give us extra banchan when we ask for it.

My favorite things to get at Suras are brisket, spicy seafood soup, and lettuce wraps. They also have mac and cheese, corn cheese, and steamed egg on the side of your grill. The steamed egg is my #1 fave and I get it refilled at least 2x when I go.

The ambience is very chill and laid back, which is something that I like compared to the other two kbbq spots I’ve talked about. At the other two, I always feel like everyone is so close to me and that they’re looking over. But at Suras, it’s so spacious that I never have that issue.

If you’re looking for a new kbbq spot or just want to try it out, I highly recommend going to Suras. They’re located across the street from the Hawaii Convention Center!
