Negativity Out, Positivity in

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

The things that we allow into our lives can make a huge impact on our own actions. Whether it be relationships, friendships or hobbies, this new year, we are not allowing just anyone or anything into our space. This year is all about growing with people who want the same for you as you would want for yourself. Not everyone has the same intentions as you, so surrounding yourself with people who push you to become a better version of who you already are is so important. Most of us have had that one jealous friend that just can’t seem to be happy about anything that you do. Friends like this have got to go. That type of negativity can break you down as a person, ultimately breaking down your dreams along with your mentality.  Positivity doesn’t just come in the form of glittering words with rainbows and sunshine, it can come in the form of someone pushing you that extra step that can make such a difference in reaching your goals.

We are claiming what is ours all 2020 and that starts with the power of manifestation. The power of the tongue is real and what you do with it can make all the difference. Start speaking your goals into existence and speak your dreams into reality because no dream is too small or impossible. Once you start speaking that positivity into your life, you will quickly see how things start to play out in your favor. Activities can also help with this new positive mindset. Try taking time to do some journaling rather than spending hours watching Netflix. This is a healthy, but simple way to feed your mind. With a new year, comes new distractions. Not everyone is gonna wanna see you win and not every action will be beneficial to your final goal. We don’t have time for the drama or the back and forths anymore. All we care about in 2020 is bossing up on our grind and on all of the haters that surround us. If it isn’t adding value to your life, then you don’t want it in your life.
