You could say that most horror movies have the same cliche elements or endings. For example, we have the girl running from the murderer and suddenly trips on air. We see the couple sneak off into the woods to hook up and they both end up getting killed. We see how the character thinks someone is in the closet, they open it, and nothing’s there, but when they turn around; low and behold, the killer’s right there! And lastly we see some movies typically in the Scooby-Doo series, the monsters or ghosts are the people they know, they were just hiding behind a mask. I believe this is a metaphor for life.
The monsters who prey on our downfall, tear us down or try to kill our spirit are usually cowards just hiding behind a mask. They could be hiding behind a computer screen, a group of friends, or even just their own facade they have created to make themselves seem more intimidating. These people usually try to make your life miserable so they’ll feel better about themselves.
Once we realize that the people who try to make themselves more power over others are usually the people who are insecure. Once you expose them for who they are, they can no longer affect you, because you know the real them. And this doesn’t have to be public exposure, it can be just in your mind by telling yourself not to get intimidated because you know who they really are.
Now let’s switch it up, sometimes we are the monsters to other people and we aren’t even aware of it. Sometimes our own insecurities cause us to put up a shield. But instead of that shield protecting ourselves, we end up hurting other people in the process. We all have toxic traits that we put on our peers or family at times. It’s just important to recognize it and try to repair ourselves as much as we can.
Overall we need to be cautious of the monsters affecting us and the monsters we create within ourselves because of our own uncertainties.
