During the autumn season, as the weather tends to change a lot, hydration is a necessity as you can be more prone to dry skin even if you normally have oily, normal, or combination skin. This is pretty common if you typically reside in areas where the climate gets cooler during the fall months, and it’s vital that your skin stays rejuvenated. Here’s what you will find in my skin care routine:
First step of my routine is cleanser:Â
I start off with a hydration cleanser. Good Molecules hydrating cleanser is one of my favorites, which is pretty affordable too and I have received great results with this brand. Besides Good Molecules I like to use CeraVe’s hydrating facial cleanser.
Toner is your second step:Â
A key step in my routine that many people tend to overlook is a facial toner. Good Molecules niacinamide brightening toner is my go-to.
Third step is serum:
As you can tell I’m a Good Molecules fanatic, and before using their products I was never a fan of serum. I honestly didn’t know what is was for and I didn’t care to use it. Now, it’s a must that I stock up on the hyaluronic acid serum. It keeps my skin hydrated, smooth, and glowy that is needed during the fall. The niacinamide serum gives similar results with a refresh look after applying.
Fourth step is a good moisturizer:
While using moisturizer keep your skin type in mind. If you’re like me and you have oily or combination skin you don’t want a heavy moisturizer that clogs your pores, but one that still gives you hydration. Moisturizing sticks are my favorite type of products because I can take them on the go and apply it to my face throughout the day whenever it starts to feel dry. Good Molecules hydrating gel moisturizer with electrolytes, Good Molecules lightweight daily moisturizer, and Aquaphor are nice products to add to your routine for moisturizer.
Last but not least, sunscreen:
Whether the sun is beaming or you’re seeing snowflakes falling on the ground you still need sunscreen. A common misconception for the Black community is that we do not need sunscreen which is completely false. Our skin needs to be protected with sunscreen at all costs. Sunscreen is a beneficial aspect to your skin care routine that helps decrease hyperpigmentation too. Black Girl Sunscreen is a top pick! They have different spf (sun protection factor) levels you can choose from depending on how fast your skin burns. I’ve heard some people generally stick with the kids one because it doesn’t break out their skin, so if you have oily or sensitive skin that one is great to buy.
Also, keep your lips glossed up too!
Vaseline, Aquaphor lip protectant and repair, or Chapstick works perfectly fine. I received the e.l.f lip oil as a gift before and I fell in love ever since. Ruby Kisses hydrating lip oil treatments are my favorite as well.
While this is an all-around routine I go by no matter the season, many of these products are essential during the fall that I make sure to use and they can also be helpful for you too!
