This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

You might have seen him around campus, but if not, now’s your chance to get to know him. This week, Her Campus caught up with 1st year 5 year MBA major, Amir Muhammad, a proud Baby Sun, but an even prouder northerner from Brooklyn, NY. Not only is Amir this week’s Finest Freshman, but he’s quite the entrepreneur. From his hoodie line to his passion for music and photography, Amir truly does it all while still finding the time to be involved in organizations such as NorthPAC and the National Black MBA Association. If you’d like to know more about Amir, keep reading!

HC: Hampton is a little ways from NY, what inspired you to attend the illustrious HU?

AM: Basically, I needed a break from the city, but knew I wanted to go to an HBCU. Hampton seemed like a good choice because it’s just far enough from home and because I knew they had a great 5 year MBA program.

HC: If you were to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

AM: Humble, ambitious, and outgoing

HC: So, tell us about your many business ventures.

AM: I started making music and clothing when I was 15. Music was just something to do until someone emailed me about doing a show, then I started taking it somewhat seriously. Making shirts and hoodies is something I’ve always wanted to do, I never thought the feeling you get whenever you see someone in something you designed would be so amazing. So I continued and started doing merchandise and design overall for other people and businesses. Overall, I just love creating things that other people can enjoy. Photography came along with making shirts and is just a hobby that I enjoy.

HC: Did you have any expectations for college before attending and if so, how have they matched up?

AM: I didn’t really have any expectations for Hampton because people I know who were here before me told me how it ACTUALLY was, so I pretty much knew what was going on beforehand.

HC: Okay, so you know I have to ask for all of the ladies wondering, what is it that you look for in a girl?

AM: *laughs* Honestly, I don’t look for much. I just want someone who is intelligent, pretty, has a sense of humor, and is independent. But if I like you, I like you.

HC: Four years from now, where will you be?

AM: In four years, I will be finishing my fifth year with multiple job offers, while also having my own business and boutique. I will also own stock in a couple of companies.

HC: What does being part of Quintessence (the hottest class) mean to you?

AM: Well, it’s actually pretty ironic that my mom’s friend was QT1, so just to have that lineage is cool, but it means that I have to stay on top because we shine the brightest and are hotter than those other classes.

So, after catching up with Amir, I think it’s safe to say that he’s a pretty cool guy who enjoys some really interesting things. He says despite his New York attitude, he’s pretty approachable and is always laughing, so if you see him around campus, which he says is hard not to considering he’s 6’5”, feel free to say hi!
