Wanna know how to indulge in Thanksgiving while also staying healthy?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GWU chapter.

Well you’ve come to the right place. Thanksgiving is the time of the year where we get to reconnect with family and friends and indulge in a yummy Thanksgiving dinner. Many may think it is hard to stay healthy during thanksgiving but I am going to give you some tips on how to balance your big Thanksgiving dinner while also staying healthy.

Eat Breakfast!

Many people tend to skip breakfast on Thanksgiving Day in anticipation for the huge portions of food that they are about to consume, but that is not the best idea. Starving yourself will only make you hungrier and will cause you to consume more when dinner is served.

Sleep Well

I know for many of us Thanksgiving is a time to catch up with friends and family but make sure that you get enough sleep before Thanksgiving Day. Not enough sleep may amp up your appetite levels for the next day.

Skip Seconds

Fill up your plate as much as you can for only one trip. This will help to reduce the amount of calories you intake and you will also be able to have Thanksgiving leftovers (which is the best part!)

Get Active!

Take a walk early in the day. And after dinner, suggest everyone go out (if the weather permits) for a neighborhood stroll. This will be a great way for families to enjoy the holiday together.

Another tip: Plan some outdoor fun before dinner.
