How One Man Is Making Sure You Travel Safely During Homecoming Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GSU chapter.

Atlanta native and potential Atlanta City Councilmember Courtney English has always acted with the interest of the city’s residents at heart. At just 24, he was elected to the Board of Education. He also holds the honor of being the youngest chairman in the history of the city’s school system and is credited with being the founding teacher at BEST Academy, the first all-male school in Atlanta in 60 years.

But, before embarking on his professional endeavors, English was a student at the prestigious Morehouse College. One night during his college years, English attended a party at Georgia Tech and got behind the wheel of a car while being intoxicated. This resulted in him receiving a DUI. The eye-opening legal experience has prompted English to want to prevent any other student from making the same mistake.

To ensure that no students or alumni are driving under the influence this homecoming season, English is offering an Uber discount code for travel between the campuses of Georgia State University, Clark Atlanta University, Emory University, Georgia Tech, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. Students of these respective colleges can simply apply the promo code EnglishATL in the Uber app to ensure they have a safe way to travel to and from homecoming festivities across Atlanta.
