With the COVID-19 situation, your lifestyle has probably undergone several changes. College campuses closing their dorms resulted in many students moving back home with their families. Coming onto the first full month of stay-at-home orders for Georgia, you can only hide in your room for so long.

Although being home with the same family members all day is becoming exhausting for some people, you might as well make the most of it. If you’re interested in quick, fun ideas on how to spend family time (outside of ripping each other’s hair out), keep reading!

Get in the Kitchen

A lot of people have already hopped on this train, but if you haven’t started baking loaves of sourdough, what have you been you doing? Cooking and baking together with the groceries at home is not only efficient time-wise, but it brings everyone in the family together by working on a single goal: eatin’ good. Even if the recipe doesn’t end up like the Youtube video said it would, you’ll still get a good laugh out of it.

Stay Fit Together

Since the stay-at-home order was introduced, exercise options have shrunk. The days of the rec center and local gyms feel like a mere memory, but with a yoga mat, internet access, and a neighborhood or park to take walks in, you can stay in shape! Staying home might make you feel achier and stiff, especially if you aren’t moving around as much as usual. Watching videos on yoga, stretching, and quick floor exercises are easy for families to do together!

Playing Games

Even before COVID-19 forced everyone inside, family game nights were a common thing for many people. However, it’s easy to get out of the groove when you’ve moved away from home for college. Now that you’re back, bring out the best board and card games! A fun spin on this could be a treasure hunt in the house, or solving a complex puzzle!

Movie Night

Similar to game nights, family movie nights have always been fairly common. It wouldn’t hurt to try a new film genre, cook some movie bites, and try copying the true theater experience as closely as possible (at least there’s no $15 popcorn!)

Book Club

This is a better time than ever to start reading, so why not make it a family activity? Try finding a book that everyone is interested in reading, and boom! You’ve got a little DIY family book club. Better find a bookmark!

There are several ideas out there about how to spend quality family time, so these five ideas are meant to serve as an easy start!
