What do you think of when you hear the word “Jazzercise”? You probably think of it as something older people like to do to stay fit, right? With their headbands and crazy colored outfits…Well…There are quite a few older people who do continue to stay active by taking jazzercise classes, but right now is the time when younger people are beginning to take these classes as well! Jazzercise is coming back and the word is being spread!

 

 

Jazzercise classes take place in most cities throughout most states. Whether you want to take classes in your home state, or here in Spokane while at Gonzaga, there are locations almost everywhere you go with wonderful instructors at each location! Spokane alone has 3 locations: the South Hill, the Valley, and up North! But if you simply look up “Jazzercise” with your home state or town, you are bound to find some locations near you.

 

 

There are several different types of Jazzercise classes including (but is not limited to): Core, Dance Mixx, Dance Mixx (LO), Lo-Interval Fusion, and many others! Each class is very similar in that they include a warmup, songs to dance to, weights or ab exercises, and then the cool down portion. The only things that are different are Core classes target the core and abdominal area for the majority of the hour whereas the Dance Mixx classes allow for more full body movements. And then the only thing that separates Dance Mixx and Dance Mixx (LO) is that the LO means there is a limited amount of high intensity movements such as jumps and skipping.

 

 

This type of cardiovascular workout is something I thoroughly enjoy because it’s not hard on your body and is something I never dread doing or going to, like I normally would the gym! It’s always a success when you can find something that challenges you that you also truly enjoy participating in. Find out what you’re personally passionate about, but definitely try out a Jazzercise class at least once in their lifetime because who knows…you might end up truly enjoying it and wishing you had started taking classes earlier!  

 

 

Jazzercise has a 12-month pass which is $55/month. If you are in the age range of 16-21, you are considered part of the “Girl Force” group which means an unlimited month pass is only $25/month! This is an awesome deal considering each individual drop-in class is $20! If you are a student, but are above 21 years old, our unlimited monthly passes are $35! There is also a special offer of a 10-class punch card…Ask in store about these.

You may not think Jazzercise is for you, but Jazzercise can be for anybody! Jazzercise will soon be celebrating 50 years of leading the women’s fitness industry because it is fun, effective, and welcoming! Just know that you don’t have to be a dancer to try jazzercise, anybody is welcome! Hope to see you all on the dance floor soon!
