As a student who has always lived in Glasgow, it can be easy to miss out on some of the amazing places the city has to offer when it comes to libraries, art and keeping the public reading. These are some of my favourite libraries to have a study date, a solo day and remove any stress with a good book.
1. The mitchell Library
Glasgow’s most popular library for a reason. Located in the Charing Cross area, it’s hard to miss with its stunning exterior and even more details inside. It stores thousands of books with anything you need for your uni course or the next book on your tbr. It is also away from the rush and stress of uni campus, which sometimes you need after a long day of lectures – this is the place for you!
2. woodside library
A more underrated spot to pick up a new book is Woodside Library. Less than a 10 minute walk from Great Western Road, it’s a great place to have a quiet study session and get a needed coffee from one of the many spots in the West End. They have a great selection of books and it’s an easy place to be productive with its relaxing design.
3. Partick library
On Dumbarton Road, Partick Library is a spot close to everything a uni student needs – from a uni food shop afterwards to transport links which is ideal for students who don’t live in the West End area. It’s a great spot for having a group study session and get some coffee or food after, because it is normal to be studying and thinking about coffee half the time anyway!
4. get free books glasgow
This newer spot is not a library but deserves a mention for the amazing job it is doing in getting people reading regularly. Get Free Books is located on the top floor of Buchanan Galleries where you can take 3 free books to read and have the chance to donate old ones. For those who want to get back into reading for fun outside of uni, I recommend this place if you don’t want the pressure of a library due date!
