6 Types of Guys I Dated in 2017

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at George Mason University chapter.

Well, 2017 is coming to a close and I thought it would be a good idea to end the year with a reflection on all the epic fails in my dating life this year.Via Pinterest

1. The playboy

This is the one you instinctively knew you had no business being involved with in the first place. But, you tried dating him to see if he would change. He didn’t. He is proud of  his reputation as a player and has no intention of changing that anytime soon.

 2. The co-worker

For me, my coworker and the playboy were the same person (Do not be like me, kids. Make smart choices). I sat next to this guy everyday for weeks at work. It started with innocent flirting and through Snapchat. Then, problems arose that made it difficult to work there anymore. It’s totally awkward because I still see him all the time.

3. The older guy

This is the guy you date because you feel that you need a change- someone more mature. He seems dependable and does what he says he is going to do. He knows what he wants in a relationship. He seems like an actual adult . Then, you find out he is actually a joke and the facade wears off. You realize he is not as mature or different as he seemed. In fact, he is very much similar to the other guys you’ve dated.

4. The great on paper guy

He checks off all the boxes on your checklist. But, as great as he is on paper, he’s trash in real life. He went to a great university, got good grades and works a high profile job. Unfortunately, quality time with this guy is hell. He cannot hold a conversation for the life of him.

5. The fuckboy

Not to be confused with the player. This guy pretends to be ready for a relationship. He even tells you sweet little nothings to keep you interested. He is the guy that’ll tell you he loves you but will also be sliding into other girls DM’s on Instagram. He is unreliable and you know you can’t trust him, but he knows exactly what to say or do to get you to forgive him and you’ll keep falling for it every time. That is until, you get fed up.

6. Not “the one.”

This is the guy you fell in love with. He is the guy that you thought was the one, but turns out, he wasn’t. It might take time, but sooner or later you will realise that your life is better without him in it.

Here’s to 2018: a new year of love and relationships.
