Four Cozy and Creative Handiworks That Are Perfect for the Season
It’s a new season, which means new, fun crafts to try! From traditional pumpkin decorations to room decor ideas, these DIYs guarantee an easy creation with a satisfying result. After all, the start of the school year might have us booked and busy, but that doesn’t mean our creativity stops. So grab some snacks, put on a Halloween movie, and get to crafting!
Pumpkin Carvings
This is the most popular Halloween crafting activity to do in North America, and it’s easy to see why! All that’s needed is a fresh pumpkin, a small, jagged knife or saw, a sturdy spoon, a Sharpie, a tea light candle, and a bowl for the pulp and seeds. There are so many unique patterns and drawings to sculpt on your pumpkin, with the most notable design being jack-o’-lanterns. Once the candle is inserted, the carving takes on a magical glow, creating a charming ambience. Now, your customized pumpkin can be set anywhere!
Fall Wreath
Witnessing the leaves change colors is my favorite sight in autumn, and now you can use them to create an enchanting wreath. First, choose vibrant colored leaves in shades of red, orange, and yellow. Then get a cardboard ring cut from a box, hot glue, and twine or a piece of ribbon. Once you have all the materials, cover the ring with leaves and glue them on until it’s fully decorated. Finally, tie the twine or piece of ribbon to the top to hang it. There you have a special, rustic wreath to welcome the season.
Mason Jar Fairy Lights
Love atmospheric lighting, but don’t want a wax candle? Just grab a clean Mason jar, fall leaves, matte Mod Podge with a foam brush, a tea candle, and twine or ribbon, and you’ll have the cutest candle holder for autumn! All you have to do is apply Mod Podge to the outside of the jar,and press leaves on it. After leaving everything to dry for twenty minutes, add another layer of Mod Podge to seal the exterior, tie the twine or tie the ribbon into a bow around the jar’s top, and place the tea candle into the jar. The end results in your room transforming into pure coziness thanks to the candles!
Fall Festivities You Should Try
Pumpkin plushies
I love sweaters, plushies, and pumpkins, so why not combine all three to create soft stuffies? Grab an old sweater or flannel of yours and cut the sleeve. Grab poly-fill stuffing, strong yarn, scissors, a hot glue gun, and a cinnamon stick or twig to complete the rest. The first step is to secure the bottom by flipping the fabric sleeve inside out and using some yarn to tightly safe the cut end. Next, flip the sleeve right-side out, stuff it with poly-fill, and tie the top with yarn. Then, wrap the yarn vertically in sections to create pumpkin ridges, and knot it tightly at the top. Finally, add a stem by gluing the twig or cinnamon stick to the center of the top gathering.
