Since the Academy Awards first aired in 1953, our culture has been obsessed with the enviable fashions of our favorite starlets. Now, in 2012, fashion is literally at our fingertips with the help of social media and the glossy pages of Vogue. Whether their style was purchased (Hello, Rachel Zoe!) or made in the embryo, college girls from coast to coast crave the ever-changing trends that our favorite celebs are wearing. Thankfully, Her Campus is here to help you find your perfect sartorial muse so you won’t end up on the “Worst Dressed” list!

Solange Knowles:

The baby sister of megastar, Beyonce Knowles, is certainly not hiding in the shadow of her older sib! Solange’s eccentric style has been questioned by fans and bloggers for years, but as of late, this songstress has been hitting all the right notes. Her afrocentric look has even landed her a spot as the Fall 2012 face of Madewell. Scoring this diva’s’ duds is easier than you’d think too–just do what you love with a tribal twist! Throw on some wooden accessories with that graphic rocker tee. Weave seashells and beads into your fish tail braid. When it comes to stealing this star’s style, there really are no rules!

Kiernan Shipka:

Okay, okay…I know what you’re thinking; this is Her Campus, not Her Middle School! But this 12-year-old can do no wrong in my book! Best-known as Sally Draper on AMC’s hit show, Mad Men, Shipka is quickly becoming my pint-sized muse of the moment. With tips from the show’s costume designer, Janie Bryant, the tween star has a sweet and girly style, paying homage to the simpler times of the 1950’s. Shipka keeps it young with fun peter pan collars, vintage babydoll dresses and sassy baubles. Re-do her retro look by visiting your local thrift shop and craft store to D.I.Y a Mad Men-look suitable for the 21st century.

Kate Middleton:

Last April, the world was treated to a fairytale in the making when Ms. Middleton said “I do” to her prince. While her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress was the talk of the presses, that was to be expected from the girl who had already taken the fashion world by storm! The Duchess of Cambridge is known for her feminine silhouettes, minimal makeup and simple hairstyles. Start with an ultra-chic pencil dress to snag her expensive look. Follow up with dewy makeup and a pair of nude pumps to keep the look fresh. An ornate fascinator doesn’t hurt, but save it for a trip across the pond; some trends should be kept exclusively British!
