“ Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and variety to life and to everything” –Plato

The power of music goes beyond just listening to a song to soothe the soul. It not only provides general entertainment and a mix of different emotions. Music is also a form of healing. Most of us have gone through emotional and sad stages in life either from a breakup, turbulence within in your circle of friends, or just general stress. A lot of us have turned to music to help us cope with life occurences that range across the board. However, one of the biggest possible causes of stress in our collegiate lives involve mainting the balance of academic commitments, part time jobs, family, and, of course, a social life. It is at the moment where you feel stress and anxiety when you seek for music. Take it from the monumental Bob Marley who stated, “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” If you know you that you have a hectic week ahead of you, devoting some time music listening can get you back on track. Whether it is a motivational song during your morning work-out, smooth jazz on your drive to and from school, or just classical music to keep you focused while youre studying, music can serve as the sole reason for your betterment. Some say music has the power to clear the mind at any given moment, or in any given situation. The thought and time artists put into the making of their records significantly impact their audience in both a mental and emotional way. The audience makes use of these records to better handle their daily struggles along with handling their personal struggles as a sonic healing.

As Hans Christian Anderseen once said, “Where words fail, music speaks”. The power of music is almost impossible to describe in words. The flowing of each meaningful word, connected by the smoothness of the instrumental music can take us to places we never dreamed of going. When your teachers decide to over work you with exams and papers, think about that oasis that music takes you to, and about the feeling you get when you listen to your favorite song. While the semester is slowly coming to a close, allow music to guide you through the coming weeks.

Cheers to ending the second half of your semester with a big bang!
