Lizzo’s album “Cuz I Love You” is a musical gospel meant to be taken in word by word, song by song. These are some of my top picks off the album with messages everyone needs in their lives.

Confidence Booster: “Truth Hurts”

“I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100% that bitch,” serves as the perfect reminder that you are the ruler of your own universe. Everything is in your control and you don’t need any man to hold you back from achieving your goals. You’re a confident KWEEN no matter what life throws your way.

Girls Night Out: “Juice”

“Heard you say I’m not the baddest bitch, you lie,” is the kind of mentality you need before a night out on the town with your girls. Play this in the uber, on the way to the club, and you’ll undoubtedly be pumped for the rest of the night and ready to get your juice.

Post-Breakup Anthem: “Good As Hell”

“If he don’t love you anymore, just walk your fine ass out the door.” It’s hard to let go, it’s even harder to remember what you deserve. If a guy‘s not right for you, walk away. Cry, eat some ice cream, but then get up and remember who the hell you are and that you’ll be more than OK.

Crazy In Love: “Cuz I Love You”

Do you ever just realize you didn’t know it was possible to love someone this much? You can’t imagine your life without them and are genuinely invested in theirs? “I’m cryin’, ’cause I love you,” represents the moment you’re hit with the realization that you don’t know what to do because you’ve found yourself falling hopelessly in love.

An Ode To Men Everywhere: “Boys”

Our generation has helped spearhead the effort to make women feel comfortable with their bodies and remember that everyone’s beautiful. Lizzo is taking this a step further by reminding boys that they’re also slaying the game regardless of body shape, sexual orientation, and beard preference. “Go and slay, boys, you my fave boys,” is an ode that all men have something to offer and that no one should ever be discriminated against.

Feminist Anthem: “Like A Girl”

“Woke up feelin’ like I just might run for President, even if there ain’t no precedent,” with six women currently running for president and more women elected to Congress this year than ever before, women everywhere are redefining the term #LikeAGirl. Lizzo is reminding everyone that being a woman is powerful and that if we work together we can run the whole damn world.

Love Is Love: “Better In Color”

It was only 52 years ago that the Supreme Court ruled that race-based restrictions for marriage are illegal. Here we are, and people are still discriminated against for being bi-racial or dating someone of another race. This track is a fuck you to anyone who still thinks there should be limits on love. “Black, white, ebony, all sound good to me.” Everyone deserves to love openly and passionately.

No matter what your taste in music is collegiettes, you’ll find your personal anthem from “Cuz I Love You.”
