As much I love online shopping, there’s something that bothers me when I can’t try my clothes on before I purchase them, especially since pants ALWAYS fit me wrong. But then I heard about Stitch Fix. With this monthly subscription clothing service, you take a fun style quiz and link your stylist to your style inspo Pinterest board (yes, we know you have one). They’ll send you five pieces each month they think you’ll like — completely hand picked for you! You’ll have the opportunity to try each piece on and see if you like it, then you simply keep what you want to buy and send back what you don’t! So easy. I was able to try the service through a referral link that waived the $20 upfront styling fee which usually goes towards the clothes you purchase. Here’s what happened:
I took the styling quiz, which was pretty basic. What sizes do you typically wear? What pieces of clothing are you looking for? What colors/patterns do you tend to like? Do you want to be sent accessories? There is also a section for specific requests or any other comments you would like to add. I told my stylist that I was looking for pants I could wear both to work and out on a casual day. However, I always have a hard time buying pants because I have a pretty small waist compared to my larger thighs and butt. Then I linked my Pinterest to my page and waited for delivery day.
When my box came, I was so excited. I opened it up to very clear instructions, details about what my stylist chose and why it was chosen, and a list of all the pieces with their prices.
There were also some great tips on what to pair with each piece.
Each piece was so comfortable, I wanted to keep them all!

I was surprised and delighted that every piece fit me perfectly, especially the pants. They were neither too tight nor too baggy, a problem that often happens at the same time for me. How? I’ll never know. Mostly because of the price, I ended up only keeping the pants and sending back the other pieces with the provided postmarked packaging. Back on the Stitch Fix website, I gave very detailed feedback to my stylist about why I did or did not keep each piece, which will help them style pieces for me in the future.
I love how easy this service was to use and the pieces they picked for me were great! I will definitely be continuing to use Stitch Fix in the future, though I do know that the prices of some of the pieces are not very accessible to college students. However, I believe that the clothing they send is great quality and some pieces may be a great investment that will last you for a very long time, rather than buying from fast fashion stores.
