Sometimes college can get extremely monotonous and give you a bit of cabin fever! This is especially true after spring break has passed and we’re strapped in for the long run without any more breaks. Rather than letting yourself get stuck in a rut that you can’t climb out of, here are some little things you can do everyday to improve your mood.
Make Your Bed Every Morning
Making your bed seems like a chore (and it is), but after a long day of classes and studying, you will feel so much better coming home to a nicely made bed! Not only is it great to climb into a made bed and go to sleep, having you bed made will make your whole room look less messy. A bonus to this tip is that if your room already looks pretty clean thanks to your made bed, you can’t procrastinate by cleaning your room!
Wash Your Face Everyday
Take the fifteen minutes to wash your face everyday. You will feel refreshed and clean after you’ve spent those minutes taking care of yourself. You deserve that self-care time! Not to mention, your skin will be glowing after just a few days of doing this!
Take A Walk
It doesn’t have to be a long walk, but even just taking the long route back to your dorm from classes can help you feel better! I recommend walking alone with your favorite music on and going at an easy, steady pace. The extra minutes you take to get back to your dorm will make you feel relaxed if class was stressful that day, and it can help you calm down a bit. Go at a snail’s pace and soak up any spring sun that’s starting to come through!
Pack Your Bag And Pick Your Clothes Out The Night Before
This is something that I learned in middle school. You will have a better day if you start the day out right. Instead of rushing around in the morning and possibly forgetting your Bio notebook in the chaos of getting ready, preset everything the night before! If everything is set to go, you can hit snooze once or twice without worry that you’ll have to rush getting ready and end up wearing a crazy costume of an outfit.
Listen To A Happy Song In The Morning
Alright Evanescence, save the angst for later in the day. If you listen to a happy, fun and upbeat song first thing in the morning, your day is more likely to be happy, fun and upbeat! It’s all about getting into the mindset of a good day.
Put Your Phone On Do Not Disturb For A While
Your sorority sister can wait 15 minutes for your opinion on which which of her mini skirts goes best with her knee high boots. Your significant other can wait a bit for you to reply “No, I love you more!” Your lab partner could use the extra time to figure out the problem they’re stuck on without your help. Take a little chunk of time to not be texting or talking to anyone. Instead, use this time to recharge. The world will still be spinning when you pick up your phone again and reconnect with everyone.
