How to Take Your Self Care Routine to the Next Level

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Furman chapter.

It all about you boo! Here are some tips and tricks to have an amazing night of self-care (or entire day because girl, you deserve it!) (Photo Courtesy of FabFitFun)

Shower/Bath

I know that baths are few and far between in college (whether you live in a dorm or are scared of sitting in those NV tubs) but if you have a change to indulge, take advantage! If showers are the only think you have access to or are just more your jam, Spongelle Body Wash Infused Buffers make a shower feel much more luxurious. They smell amazing and the sponge exfoliates while you wash, so you get clean and smooth! They last for a long time as well, so you can have luxe showers for weeks!

Face Masks!

You can’t have a self-care day without a face mask. Use a face mask you already have or invest in a new one! A good drugstore variety is the Loreal Pure Clay Detox and Brighten charcoal mask. This mask does a great job of cleaning out pores and leaving skin bright and renewed!

If you are looking to splurge a little, the Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay is amazing especially if you are prone to breakouts. I use this mask twice a week and it’s the only mask that actually helps dry my pimples and leaves my skin feeling fresh and renewed. I highly recommend trying this mask out!

Lavender ANYTHING

You are probably needing a self-care day because of stress (hello college). Lavender is a great remedy! Whether you diffuse oil (check out amazon), have scented lotion or body wash (any brand works!), the effect is still there. A trick I love is rubbing whatever lavender substance you have in your hands, putting them up in front of your face and breathing deeply a few times. This really gives you the calming effect of the lavender and will have you feeling relaxed and stress free in no time!

Journal

I am a BIG advocate for journaling. It’s a great way to let go of feelings, reflect on your day, or just write about anything that is on your mind. I also like to occasionally write what I am thankful for in my life as well as my goals. Both of these help to ground you and remember all the positive things in life.

Life is stressful, especially in college. We have so much responsibility and sometimes it can feel like there is no time in the day to do anything for you. I highly recommend setting some time out of your day for YOU and only you. You deserve it!
