Easy DIYs for Your College Dorm or Apartment

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

It’s that time of year again! Moving into a new place can definitely be exciting, but it takes a while to transform a blank canvas of a room into a cozy living place that you can consider home. There’s only so much that fairy lights and tapestries can do to make your dorm or apartment personal, which is exactly why DIYs come in handy. Now, I know most Pinterest DIYs can be extremely daunting, especially when classes are sucking your energy dry. Fear not, the following crafts are easy to make and won’t be too harsh on your college budget wallet either!

1. Plant Holders

This first DIY may need some adjustments based on your living space (if you live in a dorm, use command hooks instead!). A hint to make it a tad easier – instead of all the measuring, use the plant pot as a guide. It takes out a few of the steps! You can find the full tutorial here.

2. Floral Initial

3. Firefly Wine Bottles

This is the perfect way to reuse your empty bottles from your most recent wine night with the girls! (If you live in a dorm, mason jars might be a better option.) Directions on how to make this cute DIY can be found here.

4. Photo Display Options

Everyone knows how important it is to show off your cute selfies and photo shoots with your besties! Display them in any of the ways included in this article.

With these simple and cute DIY decorations, your new living space will begin to feel like a sweet and cozy space! Test them out and tweak them to fit the rules of where you’re living, but make sure to have fun and get creative! Add your own spin on these crafts and make each DIY your own. Happy crafting, collegiettes! Here’s to a great year!
